It’s not that you’re an idiot, but it’s wise to avoid using a chromium/blink based browser since they are building a dangerous monopoly. Firefox is the best known alternative, but there are a couple other options.

Be careful about “unsubscribing” to various services.

They will unsubscribe you, but then they also have all of your information (name, address, anything else) on record and confirmed. They can profit when the sell that data to another mailer “service”. It’s like a Hydra.

I agree with your assesment of the DSA, but our audience here isn’t ready for that. I want them to get into the DSA where we can continue trashing on them until they do something more useful.

They aren’t going to go from defending Democratic Party failures to Maoist Third-Worldist guerilla fighters (the correct sect of socialists, of course) overnight.

Yeah just fixed that, “see here” was meant to refer to this student debt situation in the OP

Without a socialist party (as in, completely purged and free of all bourgeois influence), there’s isn’t a whole lot worth voting for at the federal level. Democrats repeatedly show that they are incapable of resisting the Republicans and take L’s constantly (see here).

I encourage everyone to instead organize with local political orgs that can eventually build this power. The DSA being the largest currently available (and just as flawed as the other options one may have, ofc)

libtards

I’m onboard with the spirit of the post, but I encourage you to find another insult

R’s don’t care about precedent. That’s why they actually get what they want. If Democrats actually got things done, they would consistently win elections and it would be be an issue anyway.

It’s not going to happen anyway, though.

Possible they are using a mobile app that doesn’t support the feature.

Someone should reach out to the kids there and see if they can pitch in to organize feedback for the devs

As long as it’s in the form of a question

Yeah I’d say it’s fine to submit even if it’s obviously AI. Ideally a couple of options will get posted and we can see where the upvotes fall (may not happen, idk). Could be something good/cool/silly/ironic whatever the community wants the brand to be.

I see, I knew that person had a huge bone to pick with the Lemmy devs over their personal politics (nearly irrelevant on a federated platform imo), so I didn’t know if it was along the same lines.

Now taking submissions for a new banner image!
If anyone is interested in creating a new banner image for the comm, please submit it in the comments of this post!

Hexbear is currently unfederated, but they will be bringing a ton of custom emojis with them. According to today’s post, that feature is now supported in mainline Lemmy as well (needs to be enabled by instance admins).

Good news is that it doesn’t seem like the other users here mind all that much (for now).

Please repost phrased as a question (for consistency purposes)

I think !196@lemmy.world sounds like what you’re looking for?

This is not a question. Not to say that this topic isn’t worthy of discussion, but you may want to repost this on !lemmy@lemmy.ml,.

> Iceland took the top position for the 14th year, having closed 91.2 per cent of its overall gender gap – the only country with a figure above 90 per cent > The US dropped to 43rd on the list, down from 27th last year, from the 146 countries examined in areas such as economy, education, health, and politics

Is there another source reporting that?

Would be great to have other mobile apps fill the gap, so that the devs can focus more heavily on the main site instead of Jerboa.

Ah, makes sense. Yeah it still exists on my instance. Hopefully the underlying bug gets resolved, since it’s now wasted both of our time :)

That comment did not start the conversation, it was a response to the comment above it, which directly mentions glass.

Noam Chomsky for example is accused of the same thing for the Pol Pot genocide, though at the time he was right for the same reasons

It’s also a valid opinion to criticize Chomsky for his reaction to the Cambodian genocide.I can’t recall all the details of how things went down, so I have no comment myself, but I do have other criticisms of him.

It doesn’t make him a fascist, or a Nazi/Nazi sympathizer. That would detract from what I have to say about the people who actually are, since that’s a separate conversation. Same goes for the devs perhaps (but that’s also a separate conversation).

They’re gonna move away from we sockets within a couple of weeks, from what I hear
